Mariah McSweeney is a documentary and experimental filmmaker recently graduated from The New School’s Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts in New York City with a major in Screen Studies and a minor in Culture and Media Studies.


Mariah is passionate about several areas of the arts, excelling in editing, videography, directing, and being on-screen and stage, and has certifications in Television Production and Adobe Creative Suite. She is heavily involved in music and performing arts and has studied with the Council On International Educational Exchange London in the Theatre Arts program. Mariah has worked with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida since 2016 and has performed in several shows with The Performance Project.​ She also works with several brands in digital content creation and social media management.


Growing up in the era of camcorders and home videos, Mariah began recording skits and music videos with family and friends from an early age and found a love for self expression through the camera in her hand. She experiences film as her first language and loves collaborating with writers and other artists to translate their ideas into a new medium. Her inspirations include creatives such as Chantal Akerman and Kirsten Johnson who use the form of film to encourage the audience to reflect on their relationship with time and physical space.
